06/19/2008 12:00 AM The Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund has awarded $2.1 million in scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year to 472 students in northeastern Minnesota. Those from Carlton County include Brittany Bauer of Carlton, Brandie Lundquist of Wrenshall, Matthew Ellison and Kelsey Lund of Cloquet, and Laura Mills of Esko.

A group of enthusiastic artists from Wrenshall were brought by their art teacher, Ann Carlander, on a creative mission, volunteering to do a major art project.

06/12/2008 12:00 AM Katrina Korman, a junior at Cloquet High School, and Jeffrey Fahland, a junior at Wrenshall High School, have been awarded the title of “Minnesota Scholar of Distinction in Science” by the Minnesota Department of Education. They are among 14 science students statewide who will receive this award.
The Scholars of Distinction in Science recognizes and acknowledges exceptional accomplishment, achievement, and performance in science. It is conferred by the Minnesota Department of Education.
